Anaheim, Calif. (July 23, 2009) - Major League Baseball, Angels Baseball and the City of Anaheim today unveiled the official logo of the 2010 All-Star Game, which will be played at Angel Stadium of Anaheim on July 13, 2010.  Today’s unveiling took place at a press conference at Angel Stadium prior to the Club’s game against the Minnesota Twins.

Those in attendance for the unveiling included the Mayor of the City of Anaheim, the Honorable Curt Pringle; MLB President and Chief Operating Officer Bob DuPuy; Angels Owner Arturo “Arte” Moreno; and Angels President Dennis Kuhl.

The official logo of Major League Baseball's 2010 All-Star Game features a red dimensional star encircled by the silver halo of the Angels.  The beveled star serves as an icon that represents the showcase of Major League Baseball's finest talent.  The unique typography of the 81st Midsummer Classic also reflects the dimensional beveling inspired by the host Club.

“Major League Baseball is pleased that the 2010 All-Star Game will be hosted by the Angels, one of the model franchises of our sport,” said Baseball Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig. “The enduring success of the Angels under Arte Moreno both on and off the field is remarkable.  I am thrilled that the 2010 All-Star Game will spotlight a Club that embodies Major League Baseball’s commitment to providing affordable, family entertainment.”

Moreno said: "Angels Baseball is proud to host the 2010 All-Star Game.  Our fans, among the most loyal and passionate in baseball, will have the opportunity to see the greatest players in the game.   I would like to thank Commissioner Bud Selig, MLB President and COO Bob DuPuy, and Major League Baseball for this honor and for the opportunity to showcase Angel Stadium and our community to baseball fans across the country.   As a result of All-Star Summer, tens of millions of dollars will be generated into the local business community, with several million also dispersed to worthwhile charities on a local and national level."

Added Mayor Pringle: "We are pleased to welcome the world to the City of Anaheim for the 2010 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.  Millions of travelers visit Anaheim each year, and we plan to make this a memorable experience for all involved.  The 2010 All-Star Game is another great milestone for our city, and we look forward to celebrating this extraordinary event."

The 2010 season will mark the Angels 50th anniversary and the 45th season that the team has played in Angel Stadium.  The 2010 All-Star Game will be the third Midsummer Classic ever played in Anaheim and the first since July 11, 1989, when Bo Jackson of the Kansas City Royals led off the bottom of the first with an estimated 448-foot home run in his first All-Star at bat en route to earning Most Valuable Player honors in a 5- 3 A.L. victory.  The other All-Star Game played at the “Big A” was played on July 11, 1967 and was won by the National League, 2-1, in a 15-inning contest, which is tied for the most innings ever played in All-Star history.
