Fall is the New ‘Summer’ in Anaheim/Orange County

Extend the Summer with New ‘Give Me a Break’ Fall Deal

ANAHEIM, Calif. (September 5, 2008) – As crowds taper off at local beaches and popular amusement parks and the weather turns into idyllic temperatures, savvy travelers can turn fall into “summer” with special “Give Me a Break” deals being offered throughout Anaheim/Orange County.

“Give Me a Break” deals include discounts to several OC hotels – including free night stays, food and beverage credits and savings on spa treatments.  A number of hotels are helping to ease the “pain at the pump” by offering gas cards, as well as mileage and fuel credits. As an added benefit, those who book a three-night stay or more at participating hotels receive a $50 Disneyland® Resort Gift Card.

Dana Wharf Sportfishing & Whale Watching is offering 20% off whale watching excursions – just in time for blue whale season taking place through November.  Thrill ride seekers can take advantage of half-off admission to Knott’s Berry Farm Park featuring its newest roller coaster attraction, Pony Express, where riders sit astride one of 16 "horses,” launching at a speed of 0-38 miles per hour in less than three seconds.

Special “Give Me a Break” fall deals can be found at www.anaheimoc.org/fall and are being updated throughout the fall.

Travelers planning their OC itineraries are encouraged to check the online calendar of events (www.anaheimoc.org/calendar) for special fall festivities such as Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Disneyland® Park (Sept 5th - Oct 31st), the Festival of Children – being celebrated with events throughout Orange County (Sept 1st - 30th), Knott's Scary Farm – Knott’s Berry Farm’s famous Halloween party (September - October), and Oktoberfest (Sept 7th - Oct 26th).

Experience the colors and flavors of “OC’s fall” by dining alfresco on a rooftop patio or trendy restaurant as the sun sets amidst a pink and orange sky along the sapphire blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. Try OC’s take on fall comfort foods with dishes such as Palm Terrace Restaurant & Lounge’s Macaroni and Cheese made with Taleggio cheese and crushed truffles, Stonehill Tavern’s Organic Whole-fried Jidori Chicken or Roy’s Wood Grilled Szechwan Spiced Baby Back Pork Ribs.

“Fall is one of Anaheim/Orange County’s best-kept secrets,” said Charles Ahlers, president of the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau. “The climate is perfect Southern California weather and the summer crowds have died down.  It’s really a great time of year to experience our area.”

Home to renowned beaches, world-famous theme parks and attractions, exciting professional sports, unique shopping, arts and cultural events, and award-winning restaurants, Southern California’s Anaheim/Orange County is a blend of sights and experiences complemented by warm sunshine.
