Picturesque Beaches, Luxury Resorts and Unique Venues Lure

Betrothed Couples to Orange County

Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau anticipates increased interest in Orange County wedding venues due to ruling legalizing same-sex marriage in California

ANAHEIM, Calif. (September 4, 2008) – Wedding ceremonies held high atop a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean are a familiar sight in Orange County.  Couples have tied the knot along the beach, in churches and synagogues, and have celebrated in unique venues throughout Orange County for decades.  The decision by the State of California’s Supreme Court to legalize same-sex marriage has stirred even more interest in those desiring to wed in this picturesque destination.

“After searching all over, we instantly fell in love with Orange County and knew that it was the perfect spot for our East Coast guests to experience Southern California, especially with its breathtaking cliff views of the ocean and beautiful beaches, said bride Brooke Rodriguez of Boston, Mass.  “The location of being between San Diego and Los Angeles was great giving many options of airports and fun trips outside of our wedding while also providing plenty to do locally.”

Couples looking to wed in Orange County will not only find the ideal location for their wedding, but will also have seasoned wedding professionals at their service.

“Through the years, we have assisted brides from all over the United States and abroad in planning their weddings in Orange County,” said Paula Laskelle of Champagne Taste, a full service wedding consulting, planning and designing company based in south Orange County.  “The most popular locations remain to be our four- and five-star ocean-view resorts as well as some of the unique venues throughout the area.”

The lure of the Pacific Ocean makes several Orange County Coastal Hotels & Resorts a popular choice for couples wishing to say “I do” as the sun sets along the sea.  Those looking for a unique venue can choose from several throughout the destination such as the McCharles House – a historic Victorian cottage and gardens nestled in Old Town Tustin, Tivoli Terrace tucked away in the Laguna Canyon in Laguna Beach and Mission San Juan Capistrano, known as the “Jewel of the Missions.”

Couples with theme weddings in mind will delight in finding venues that match their motif or passion such as the Marconi Automotive Museum in Tustin, Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland® Park in Anaheim, and the Orange County Museum of Art in Newport Beach.

“Our owner June Neptune firmly believes that weddings are about love and commitment between two people,” said Bobby Fader, general manager of Tivoli Terrace and Tivoli Too.   “We have been hosting commitment ceremonies for over 20 years.  Couples have been choosing our venue because we have beautiful, unique and intimate garden settings in Laguna Beach and Santa Ana with a friendly staff to make their planning easy and stress free.  So many people contact us because you can't beat the beautiful picturesque beach towns of Orange County.”

“With the recent ruling by the State of California’s Supreme Court, we anticipate that many event locations and hotels throughout Anaheim/Orange County will benefit from the increased interest of those wanting to marry here,” said Charles Ahlers, president of the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau.  “Our destination has been the site of an array of ceremonies and celebrations for decades.  We’re ready to host even more!”

Home to renowned beaches, world-famous theme parks and attractions, exciting professional sports, unique shopping, arts and cultural events, and award-winning restaurants, Southern California’s Anaheim/Orange County is a blend of sights and experiences complemented by warm sunshine.  For a listing of event venues, hotels and resorts located in Anaheim/Orange County or for more information, visit anaheimoc.org or call 714/765-8888.
