ANAHEIM, Calif. (November 7, 2007) – Sales and marketing officials of the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau are targeting the large corporate meetings market by repositioning the area’s prominent meeting and convention area as the “Anaheim Center Walk.”
The Center Walk collectively sells indoor-outdoor meeting and exhibit space by positioning three of its major assets as one, in addition to the nearby dining and entertainment venues and other nearby hotels. The Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim Marriott and Hilton Anaheim are all located just steps from one another and offer a combined 1.5 million square feet of exhibit, ballroom, meeting room, prefunction and outdoor space. All three venues are connected by palm-tree lined walkways, providing an inviting open-air campus environment. In addition, 2,603 guestrooms at two adjacent hotels and more than 7,000 guestrooms within walking distance are available for overflow around the campus area, along with dining and entertainment options at nearby Downtown Disney and the soon-to-be-opened Anaheim GardenWalk district.
“We know that meeting planners are always on the lookout for meeting destinations that can offer versatile exhibit space, meeting rooms and accommodations under one roof,” said Charles Ahlers, president of the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau. “We have always offered great meeting facilities, only our ‘roof’, per say, includes the sunny blue skies of Southern California. The Center Walk allows attendees to enjoy the warm Mediterranean climate and fresh air while walking around our campus.”
Since the Anaheim Convention Center’s dramatic 40 percent expansion in 2001, the center’s arena was renovated and added desirable outdoor function space, a signature fountain area, additional lush palm trees and fresh landscape features. The Anaheim Marriott recently completed its massive Platinum Ballroom and a major room renovation is in progress. The Hilton Anaheim is in the midst of a multi-million dollar dramatic transformation to be completed by the end of 2008.
New on the horizon is the Anaheim GardenWalk – an open-air, 400,000-square-foot district featuring renowned restaurants, world-class retailers and cosmopolitan hotels. The first six restaurants scheduled to open by January 2008 include: Bubba Gump’s, Roy’s, M&S Grill (McCormick & Schmick), P.F. Chang’s, California Pizza Kitchen and Cheesecake Factory. The remainder of the district is scheduled to open by spring 2008.
