As part of a new $1 billion investment in its resort, Disney began construction in 2016 on a 14-acre “Star Wars”-themed land, the largest single-themed land expansion to date. Though a completion date has not been announced, several Tomorrowland attractions, including the 3-D, motion-simulated space flight, Star Tours, and Star Wars Launch Bay, reflect “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” updates. Space Mountain is reimagined as Hyperspace Mountain for a limited time. The new land will be an immersive experience with two yet-to-be-named, interactive attractions featuring the Millennium Falcon and the battle between the Resistance and First Order Stormtroopers.
Themed lands pay tribute to the Golden State’s history and culture. Hollywood Land honors California’s show business roots with popular attractions, notably the elevator-thriller “The Twilight Zone” Tower of TerrorTM. Cars Land and “a bug’s land” offer adventures inspired by their namesake animated hits. Paradise Pier answers the question — What if California had its own Coney Island or Atlantic City boardwalk? – with a high-speed California Screamin’ coaster, Mickey’s Fun Wheel ferris wheel and boardwalk games. Pacific Wharf draws inspiration from San Franciscan delights with its Ghirardelli® Soda Fountain and the Sonoma Terrace featuring California craft beer and wine.

Knott’s Berry Farm’s Ghost Town celebrates its 75th anniversary from May 27 to Sept. 5, 2016, with a new, interactive entertainment experience, “Ghost Town Alive!” Take part in new stories and adventures in the old west town of Calico. Ride the restored GhostRider, opened in June, and hold on as newly designed coaster trains gallop upon 4,500 feet of smooth, new track on the West Coast’s longest, fastest and tallest wooden rollercoaster…Grab a freeze ray and battle mysterious sea creatures on the new 4-D interactive ride, Voyage to the Iron Reef…. The California MarketPlace, just outside the Park’s main entrance, now has a full-service Starbucks – the first at Knott’s – and a newly renovated Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner restaurant.

Opening in late Spring 2017, the new, 3-acre Ocean Explorer destination will feature a series of undersea research bases housing custom aquariums for colorful, free-swimming jellies, giant Pacific and tropical octopi and Japanese spider crabs. The area’s signature submarine ride will turn visitors into marine researchers embarking on a mission to collect data and help animals. Ocean Explorer will also feature a wave-swinger ride that suspends guests from a giant jelly’s tentacles as they literally fly through thousands of bubbles.

Choose your our safari. This expansive wildlife sanctuary is home to more than 3,000 animals representing more than 300 species. Its renowned botanical collection represents 3,500 species and 1.75 million specimens. More than half of the Park’s 1,800 acres (730 hectares) has been set aside as protected native species habitat. Go on a Caravan Safari to get up close to – and even feed -- the white rhinos, giraffes and elephants. You can even take a Flightline Safari, flying harnessed more than 130 feet above the park for a spectacular view.
