Fall for OC - Part 1

Fall for the Arts

Courtesy of the Orange County Performing Arts CenterOrange County boasts a vivacious arts scene and this fall, OC enters a new period of growth with a major arts expansion.

Celebrated for its striking architecture and flawless acoustics, the Orange County Performing Arts Center presented a $200 million expansion on September 15, 2006. The opening celebration continues with a six-week festival of performances, including the Kirov Opera, Orchestra & Ballet.

Bowers Museum focuses on the artwork of indigenous peoples from Pre-Columbian, Oceanic, Native American and Pacific Rim cultures and is currently featuring Mummies: Death and the Afterlife in Ancient Egypt through April 2007.

Or, take it to the streets and explore the lively OC art districts:
  • Costa Mesa is filled with public art displays, galleries and offbeat gathering spaces.
  • Emerging artists and art-lovers converge in Santa Ana’s colorful Artists Village, featuring museums, historic neighborhoods, sidewalk cafés and poetry readings.
  • Laguna Beach is a well-established artists’ colony dating back to the early 1900s, and today, galleries line the charming streets.
Orange County also offers an array of eclectic art museums, featuring American Impressionism works, up-and-coming local artists, and contemporary visual arts at the Orange County Museum of Art.
