Downtown Anaheim is steadily becoming an exciting hub of activity
- all
in the heart of one of Anaheim's most historic districts. The
rise of Downtown Anaheim's popularity is the due to the emergence
of unique venues such as Muzeo and new
pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use residential and retail buildings.
And the
pedestrian-friendly atmosphere has allowed local events to flourish and
become must-do activities when visiting Anaheim and Orange
County. Some of these events include:
Downtown
Anaheim Certified Farmers'
Market
Winner of the 2009 Farmers Market category on myfoxla's Hotlist, the
Downtown
Anaheim Certified Farmers' Market takes place each Thursday
from noon to 8 p.m. The Farmers' Market features vendors selling
everything from hand-made soap to Peruvian art, and the freshest
in-season produce. There is also live entertainment throughout
the day.
Rumble
and Rock on the Party Block
On the third Friday of each month from May - October, downtown Anaheim
turns into a giant block party featuring custom motorcycles, classic
cars and live rock.
Rumble
and Rock on the Party Block is a part
car show, part live rock-concert, and is a great way
to "kick-start" your weekend in Downtown Anaheim. Events
and activities include: street vendors, taco/nacho bar, 50/50
sweepstakes, BBQ, live bands from 5 - 10 p.m. and happy hour from 4 - 7
p.m.

Swingin'
on the Promenade:
Dance the night away under the stars in Downtown Anaheim. From 6
- 10 p.m. on August 15, Center Street Promenade will be transformed
into a 1940's outdoor swing dance club. Highlights of the event
include a free dance lesson by OC Swing, a beer and wine garden, great
food, vendors, and the 16-piece Jonathon Stout Orchestra featuring
Hilary Alexander. This year marks the 10th anniversary of
Downtown
Anaheim's Swinging on the Promenade and is free to the public.
Muzeo:
Monsters and Beasts
Muzeo, one of Southern
California's newest museums, is a center for arts, knowledge,
entertainment and culture. Currently on display is the two-part
exhibit, "Monsters and Beasts," which provides visitors the opportunity
to
come up close and personal with life-sized monsters, both real and
fictional.
The first exhibit, "
Monsters
and Beasts: Hairy, Scary and Unleashed" is
a face-to-face encounter with the monsters from some of Hollywood's
biggest blockbuster movies. Exhibit highlights include an
interactive creature workshop, a cast of 30 creatures like the
Abominable Snowman, and a behind-the-scenes look at how animatronic
components bring these creatures to life.
The second exhibit, "
Monsters
and Beasts: Bizarre Beasts, Past and
Present," is a survey of some of the greatest "monsters" that have
roamed earth, air and sea. Large models and reconstructions,
authentic cast skeletons, videos, interactive computer games and real
fossils show how real life is stranger, and sometimes scarier, than
fiction.
The "Monsters and Beasts" exhibit runs from now until September 6, 2009.
